Hummingbird‚Ñ¢ listens to your voice (or instrument) through your Mac's Sound Input port. Follow this basic checklist to prepare for your flight.
‚áß Microphone is plugged in.
‚áß No other applications running.
‚áß Monitor is set for 256 colors.
‚áß Microphone is selected in Sound Control Panel.
‚áß You're close enough to microphone.
If, after following this checklist, something isn't working, then it may be helpful to check microphone readiness, independently of Hummingbird‚Ñ¢...
◊
1) Locate your Macintosh Sound Control Panel†
2) Choose 'Add' to record an Alert Sound.
3) Record something.
†Note: The location and appearance of the Sound Control Panel may differ from the one depicted above. Look under the Apple Menu for Control Panels, then open the Control Panel that contains the word Sound. (In System 7.5 the Sound & Monitors Control Panels are combined into one.)
If you can succesfully record through the Sound Control Panel, you should be able to run Hummingbird. Quit the Hummingbird application and try again.
